The 2014-2015 is set to begin this Friday in the CIS. The Canada West Conference will be the first and only one to launch its activities across the country. The conference features six (6) quebecers and the last 2 rookies of year.
Albert Golden Bears:
Last season’s Conference Champions has been able to land Quebec’s most prolific CEGEP prospects who did not go the NCAA route. A former All-Canadian Player at Champlain Saint-Lambert, the 2012-2013, Can West Rookie of the Year, 6’0 Floor General Youssef Ouahrig enters his 3rd season with one goal in mind: to beat Carleton. The Golden Bears lost to the Ravens in last year’s national semi-finals before bringing home the CIS bronze medal.
Mamadou Gueye, the 6’5 reigning rookie of the Year and Quebec Player of Year and All-Canadian at CEGEP de Ste-Foy will be instrumental to the Golden Bears success this season with the departure of star guard, Jordan Baker.
Sebastien Denault 6’9 out of Champlain Saint-Lambert completes the trio of quebecers for Coach Craddock. Sebastien who comes in to fill a void inside for the Bears is expected to contribute right away. Denault’s versatility and developped aggressiveness will be much needed to the young Alberta squad.

Brandon Bobcats:
The Brandon Bobcats have also had its shares of Quebec talent. This year’s teams lines up 2 of them. Former Vanier and Ahuntsic Guard, 5’10 Mikee Dosado as well as sharpshooter 6’5 Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak. Coach Cheung will look guide his team to a first playoffs appearance since joining office in a very competitive Can West Prairie Division.

Calgary Dinos:
6’0 G, Jhony Verrone. The former Vanier Cheetahs completes the list of Quebec players in the Can West Conference. A sharpshooter and hardnosed defender, Verrone will look to help Coach Vanhooren from last season’s 7-15 record.
Jhony and the Dinos visit the University of Winnipeg Friday and Saturday.[:]
