Less than 48 hours after suffering its first loss of the semester, the Champlain Saint-Lambert Cavaliers were back in action at Dawson College. TJ Umar scored 24 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead Champlain. Nikita Kasongo added 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cavaliers past Dawson 73-56 Sunday afternoon. Dawson’s star guard Jordan Aquino had 19 points in his final game in the Atwater metro gymnasium. Backcourt partner Alex Caro chipped in with 16 points.
The Blues took a 13-12 lead after the 1st quarter. Nikita Kasongo hit a 3 point shot that put Champlain up 19-17 with 8:07 left in the 2nd period. The Cavaliers never trailed from that point on. Saint-Lambert dominated Dawson 55-25 in the rebounding category. Champlain (13-4) travels to Ste-Foy (6-11) to clinch first place in the final standing. Dawson (8-10) awaits the results of Vanier (8-9) vs Edouard-Montpetit (7-10) for a spot in the playoff.
