The UQAM Citadins defeated the Concordia Stingers Thursday night to get their first win of the season.
The Citadins needed a big performance from their fifth year leader and he delivered. Alex Bernard had an all-time performance for the UQAM. The 6’5 forward had 15 first half points to give UQAM a 35-29 half time lead. He added 24 other points in the second half to help UQAM espace Concordia 80-73.
Alex Bernard‘s 39 points broke his own mark established on Feb. 2 2013 when he scored 31 points. On Thursday, Bernard shot 14 for 22 from field, making 2 of his five 3 pointers and a dizzling 9 for 10 free-throw shooting efficiency.
Mukiya Post had 27 points for the Stingers who played without starting forward Michael Fosu and key player Xander Jean, who were both suspended by the league after being ejected against McGill last week.

Les Citadins avaient besoin d’une belle performance de leur joueur vétéran de 5ème année pour défaire les Stingers et celui-ci n’a pas râté l’occasion. Alex Bernard a connu un match historique pour l’UQAM. Le joueur pivot de 6’5 a marqué 15 points en première demie pour permettre aux siens de prendre une avance de 35-29 à la demie. Il a ensuite ajouté 24 points en deuxième demie pour aider l’UQAM à l’emporter 80-73.
Avec ses 39 points, Alex Bernard a fracassé sa propre marque établie le 2 février 2013 alors qu’il avait inscrit 31 points. Jeudi soir, Bernard a réussi 14 de ses 22 tirs tentés, 2 en 5 du 3 points et un impressionnant 9 en 10 de la ligne de lancer-franc.
