The Vanier Cheetahs know how to spoil a party.
Abdul Kamane scored a season high 30 points to help Vanier defeat Champlain Saint-Lamber 78-73 on Senior Night, Friday.
Schneiders Suffrard added 17 points, Godsman Kwawa 13 points and Ibrahim Ngom 12 points for the Cheetahs who are still fighting for a playoff spot.
Kasheem Thomas led all scorers for Champlain with 17 points. Four other teammates scored in double digits in the game.
The two teams traded 3 point baskets early. Neither team missed in the first 2:30 minutes of the game. Saint-Lambert led 23-17 after one quarter. Vanier took control in the 2nd quart after Godsman Kwakwa back to back 3 point shots. The Cheetahs went to the locker room with a 38-30 lead at the half.
Vanier opened up the third quarter with a 18-9 run, pushing its lead to 56-39 with 3:35 to play in the period. Champlain responsed with a 11-1 run to close the quarter.
The Cavaliers continued their rally in the final quarter. Nicky Noble tied the score at 67 on a 3 pointer with less than 2 minutes in the game.
Ibrahim Ngom then hit back to back 3s to seal the deal for VC.
Both teams hit the court again on Sunday. Vanier (8-8) hosts John Abbott (11-5) and Champlain Saint-Lambert (12-4) visits Dawson (8-9).
